Tips: Website Maintenance
Hosting
Websites will always have ongoing fees for domain names, hosting and software licencing (if applicable). One needs to maintain these costs to keep their website running smoothly.
Updates
Yes, updates. Just like any software, websites need to be updated. It may be the software that's running your website, but more often we're referring to content. One needs to change names, dates, specials, and just generally keep things up to date. This way a customer has the most applicable information for their enquiry available to them at all times, increasing you chances of a sale.
Monitoring
You can measure how well your website performs. Use free tools like google analytics to trace things like how many people visit your site, where they click, how long they stay on each page, which pages they visit. Use all this information to tweak your website for the better.
Improvements
Incrementally changing your website keeps it fresh. It can also save you money. As your website changes subtly over time, over a long period of time, your website might change dramatically. A slow drip will eventually fill a bucket, and to keep your bucket filled with business opportunities, you need to make an effort on all fronts to keep custom coming in. Letting your website stagnate and age will not do that.
